User Guides

The guides provide an introduction to and overview of the CASH service, giving you all the information you need to get started. Topics covered include:

Accessing journal articles

Some journal articles you find using the CASH service may be available in full text via Athens. Athens is an access management system which controls access to resources on the internet which have been purchased for the use of the NHS in England. More specifically, Athens provides access to certain databases and full text journals.

You can register for an Athens password online. To speed up the application process it is best to register from a PC at your workplace. Once you have an Athens password, you can use it anywhere that you have internet access.

To see which journals you can access using your Athens password, go to the NHS Evidence website and login to the My Library service using your Athens username and password. Finally, scroll to the bottom of the screen to view the My Athens Resources section.
