Sharing Learning

The Pathfinders

Trent region identified five pilot Trusts who acted as pathfinders:

The regional approach taken provided an opportunity for the pathfinders to work as a group to focus on the key issues surrounding the implementation of PLAS, develop a shared vision, exhange learning and develop the regional toolkit to support the development of PALS across the Region.

By working together, using an inclusive methodology which has involved people from a range of key organisation, front line staff, service users and carers it has been possible to identify valuable learning which has helped to inform the development of both regional and nation guidance.

Forum theatre provided a methodology of exploring patient's experiences and to look at a variety of issues from different perspectives.

Whilst individual Trusts are identified as pathfinders all have formed part of district wide groups as it is clear that a collaborative approach to PALS is essential if this new service is to be a success.
