Course Overview

The increasing demands of ‘World Class Commissioning, High Quality Care for All’ and the move toward integrated working to support children, younger people and adults, all mean that a greater focus on staff skills and competences is needed to ensure the delivery of a high quality service.

The Managing Health & Social Care programme (MHSC) is a highly regarded, current and nationally recognised qualification for managers and leaders working in the health and social care economy.

leadership roles within the health and social care economy

• Organisations which need staff to manage and lead changes across complex service delivery frameworks

Key Learning Outcomes

The overarching aim of the programme is to increase the competence levels of practicing managers and leaders and to support an individual’s development not only for the duration of the course but throughout their career.

• To have a better understanding of management and leadership skills within a student’s own environment,

and the wider health & social care context

• To be able to link management and leadership skills to theory and evidence based practice

• To understand and apply critical, analytical and evaluative methods and tools to own and others working environment

• To enhance personal and professional development through the use of networking, mentors, managers & tutors

Programme Structure

The programme employs progressive methods of blended learning using high quality learning materials endorsed by the NHS, Social Care and The Institute for Healthcare Management.

• Workshops

• Personal Research

• Work-based Assignments

• Tutor Support

Each qualification can be completed within a minimum of 1 year.
