The aim of the User Carer workstream is to represent the views and concerns of those with a Neurological condition living in the Trent region and provides a user/carer perspective for the Neuroscience's Network.  In order for this to take place a Trent Neuroscience's Voluntary Sector Liaison Group has been developed.

This group consists of regional staff or lead volunteers of Neurological organisations in Trent. The group is currently working to develop some Terms of Reference ready to present to the Neuroscience's Board on 8th February 2006.

Current thinking is around the following:

  • What can the voluntary sector do for the NHS?
  • What can the voluntary sector do with the NHS?
  • What can the voluntary sector do for users / carers?
  • What are the barriers faced by the voluntary sector?

The next meeting will take place March 2006.

A patient journey enquiry questionnaire has been developed and sent out to various neurological voluntary organisations. The aim is to identify gaps and weaknesses in the current provision of services in Trent. The results of this will be analysed by Dr Jorg Hoffman in due course.
