This workstream will ensure that paediatric services in Trent are designed to provide young patients with better access to services and to improve the quality of service delivered. This includes the reduction of waiting times for outpatient appointments, diagnosis and treatment, and the improvement of the interfaces between primary, secondary, and tertiary care, social services, education, voluntary and the independent sector.
The next steps for the work stream are:
- To agree and develop a Trent wide service model for Paediatric Epilepsy
- To develop a service specification for the future commissioning of services

- To agree a method of clinical assessment in line with protocols at each transition point in the pathway
- To develop regional resources through collaboration and consensus including guidelines, patient information, audit tools, education and research.
- To agree and develop a model of provision for patient and family information
- To work collaboratively with the voluntary organisations to develop a strategy for raising awareness of Epilepsy in young people
