These sheets were generated by staff within Nottingham City Hospital (NCH) for use when scoring practice against each of the nine National benchmarks.
The sheets contain the Essence of Care standards and corresponding best practice statements against each factor within the benchmark. The statements are evidence based on published literature or policy documents where possible, although some were dervived from concensus opinion from groups of experienced practising staff.
Comments are welcome to ensure the sheets accurately represent bast practice in order to improve patient care via cvass@ncht.trent.nhs.uk.
The tabular format aids staff in scoring and grading. The "coreness" of the statements facilitates comparison and sharing across wards/departments, and there is a facility for adding statements where neccessary (according to speciality or client group). Wards/areas are also encouraged to individualize statements as they see fit depending on their client/staff group.
