In 1999 an All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) was established in order to raise awareness of ME. In 2009 an inquiry was launched by the APPG into NHS service provision for people with ME/CFS following the publication of the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidleines in 2007.
The inquiry focused on collecting data from each Strategic Health Authority (SHA) and Primary Care Trust (PCT) around the country as well as collecting data from specialist treatment centres, directors of Public Health, patients and patient groups. The final report was published along with its findings in March 2010.
