Derby Door

'Derby Door'

Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

The 'Derby Door' is an exciting innovative, inflatable barrier which fits flush against hospital walls and ceilings to completely seal open bay areas.

Staff who need to use hydrogen peroxide to decontaminate bays infected with clostridium difficile or norovirus, enter the door through a sealable entrance in the middle.

Production has now started in partnership with AirQuee Ltd in Bristol and there is no similar product on the market.

"Infection prevention and control is a very high priority for the whole of the NHS, and is something taken extremely seriously here in Derby. We owe it to our patients to do all we can to keep them safe, and it is from this starting point where the idea of the Derby Door came"

Paul Brooks, Head of Facilities Management at Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, who got the idea when he was moving a guest airbed at home.
