A limited amount of funding will be available this year. In view of this, and taking account of learning from the process for the 2009/10 fund, the RIF will be focused on a smaller number of priorities, and the application process will be simpler and more responsive.
The Regional Innovation Fund (RIF) will be open to applications at Stage 1 on 27th July 2010 and will close at 12 noon on the 10th September 2010. Please use the template attached below and send the completed document to emsha.innovation@nhs.net No further supporting papers will be accepted.
The Guidance document (pdf) attached below outlines information on the East Midlands Regional Innovation Fund (RIF) 2010/11. It includes information on timescales, supporting information on the application form and a worked example of this. It also outlines the eligibility criteria of the fund.
Aims of the Fund
-
The primary aim of the 2010/11 RIF is to support the delivery of the Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP) challenge in 2010/11.
-
In order to achieve the QIPP objectives, it will be necessary to both find innovative solutions, and to diffuse those solutions through the NHS. The fund aims to find projects that have both an innovative solution, and a persuasive plan for gaining sustained funding and continued growth for their project.
-
RIF Projects are part of a nationally-funded programme. Learning and approaches from successful projects which contribute to increasing quality and reducing cost will be shared across the East Midlands and with the rest of the NHS.
Fund Priorities
Successful applications will be able to demonstrate a direct impact on the following regional QIPP priorities:
-
Primary Care
- Management of Long Term Conditions
- Mental Health and Learning Disabilities
Within these categories, particular priority is placed on the following types:
-
Working in partnership with social care
-
Diffusion and adoption of proven technologies and approaches
-
Reducing health inequalities (for which a sum of at least £50,000 is reserved)
-
Implementation of late stage research which has passed research and development (R&D) processes
-
Supporting life style change and healthy behaviours
